Another holiday!

Just booked another holiday...ok maybe not the best time to go on holiday in this country...Janurary!

Another working holiday too! Difference being that i'm going to be working near Stonehenge and highlight of the week will be standing amongst the stones after the site is closed to the public. Also going with me cousin which should be a good laugh. Of course photo's will be put on line afterwards of the week.

Before that though I have my weekend in Llangollen coming up and a week in September in north Wales and a few days leave left this year so might do some more stuff before the end of the year. Looks like my camera will be busy!

My wife and I missed summer solstice, due to illness the dig near our home as we are in the States, but if you are digging, let us know and perhaps we could join you too

I wish I was digging! The holiday I have booked on is copicing hazel trees for charchol burners/thathers who are working in the Stonehenge lanscape, part of the land management that is going on in the area at the moment. There is a working holiday next month which is much more closely working with the archeology in the landscape in the area but it was fully booked!
I am looking forward to getting amongst the stones, just 12 of us so even if the weather is bad should be good! I personally (and you are free to disagree!) believe the henge was most important to the people in the winter solstice especially as that is the stones are orintated. Just makes sense that they are celibrating the turn to the days getting longer after the shortest day. Of course i'm no way influenced by the fact I was born on the winter solstice!!
